I had a very dear aunt that lived far away from us. Every year at Christmas we visited her and spent a few days. She always waited until we got there to put up her tree. She said my dad did a better job than she could have. I don't think she was physically able to put up a tree by herself. Dad would set up the tree, and the rest of us would put on the lights, garland and antique ornaments.
I loved all the ornaments, but my favorite was the Christmas topper. It was extremely ornate with gold trim. My aunt used to say it was 'real gold' but I know better now. The nativity scene was painted on in miniature details. It was beautiful and that last trip to see her she gave it to me. My aunt died that summer but her memory lives on in that beautiful vintage Christmas topper.
