The state of Missouri began issuing license plates for cars back in 1908. These vintage Missouri license plates had the city you resided in along with the state abbreviation listed at the top of the plate. Over the years the Missouri license plate has been very plain.
Most of the time the vintage Missouri license plates had a dark color as the base and a light color for the numbers. They would have the year of the plate along with the state name either at the top or bottom of the license plate. The vintage Missouri license plates from the 1930's are not too bad with there tan base with black numbers or that in reverse. In 1943 they used a thin metal strip as the plate.
