When buying vintage Nebraska license plates, prices can range anywhere from a few dollars to several hundred dollars. There are some nice plates on the market. As a beginner collector, knowing about re-stamped license plates will help when shopping.
In the early 1940s and during World War 11, the now vintage Nebraska license plates were re-stamped. All of the states, including Nebraska had a shortage of metal. So, during the war effort the states had to use what they had and recycled their license plates.
This fact is important because if a beginner collector sees one of these plates, he or she might not think it is a real vintage Nebraska license plate. A re-stamped license plate is an important part of our history.
