Antique Leather Tools

Antiques refer to items that were very prominent and famous previously but which have been rendered redundant with time. Antique leather working tools are examples of such items. They were used to work out various designs and fashions using leather materials from animal skins in order to produce goods such as leather footwear, furniture fittings, tents and general clothing materials.

Antique leather working tools were numerous in number in the past and included tools such as knives, shears, pictorial stamps, Imprinting Machines, sewing tools, hand presses, bevellers and skivers. In those days, production was localized and performed under family units. However, the advent of the Industrial Revolution saw the collectivization of production in factories, whereby a large number of workers were hired in one factory consequently, rendering them obsolete.
